Lakeland Métis Nation strives to create and maintain productive relationships with industry partners throughout our traditional territory.
In 2017, Lakeland Métis Nation initiated a partnership with Teck Resources, a collaboration that endures to this day, providing steadfast support for our pursuit of self-determination, the assertion of our Métis rights, and the establishment of self-governance.
In November 2021, a significant step was taken in our journey toward self-determination as the Impact Benefit Agreement between the Lakeland Métis Nation and Teck Resources was updated. This amendment marked an important milestone, reflecting our community's commitment to self-determination. Specifically, it involved the renaming of our organization from "MNA Lakeland Local Council 1909" to "Lakeland Métis Community Association." This change symbolized our dedication to forging our own path and underscored our focus on self-determination. Now, as the Lakeland Métis Nation, we continue to emphasize our commitment to autonomy and the well-being of our people.
